  • Computer Science Week at Evans Park

Evans Park students turned the Hour of Code initiative for Computer Science Week, December 3 – 9, into a series of daily events in nearly every classroom!  Teachers and students participated in activities from code.org, scratch, tynker and google (holiday coding) as well as working with our Maker Space robots, Dash and Dot and Blue Bot. Hop Scotch coding, coding an animated dance party, unplugged coding and buddy tasks between older and younger students helped to make the week exciting and new.  Students are learning the vocabulary of coding and are motivated to continue to explore coding in many areas of the curriculum.

  • Evans Park Students help the Make a Wish Foundation.

On Friday, December 7th, the Evans Park Student Council brought over 450 letters written by members of the Evans Park community to Macy’s for the Make a Wish program.  Making our donations on this particular day yielded a $2 per letter contribution by Macys to Make a Wish.  Evans Park’s donation was more than $900, thanks to all of the students’ writing.  Student Council members came back brimming with pride and enthusiastically shared their experience with the student body, including meeting a Make a Wish recipient, the CEO of the foundation…and Santa!
