Dear Pearl River School District Community,
We are pleased to announce that at last evening’s (July 10) Board of Education meeting, Mr. Joseph Simoni was appointed to the position of Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction effective August 1, 2024. Mr. Simoni has been with the Pearl River School District for one year, serving as Director of Special Services. He has over twenty years of educational experience that includes district-level leadership in Pupil Personnel Services & Technology with the Carmel Central School District, Special Programs in the Pine Bush Central School District, and Special Education and Student Services in the Wappingers Central School District. Joseph has spent the last nine years dedicated to special education administration - supporting families in accessing the most appropriate programs and services to meet the individual needs of students. In addition to his professional experience, Mr. Simoni holds the following credentials/degrees:
- B.A. in Social Sciences (Mount Saint Mary College)
- M.S. in Teaching Reading (Mercy College)
- C.A.S. in School Building/District Leadership (SUNY New Paltz)
The search for the next Director of Special Services will begin immediately with a posting of the vacancy for interested and qualified candidates. Our hiring process includes stakeholder committee, District administration and Board of Education interviews that will take place in late July with a goal to recommend for appointment on August 6. Mr. Simoni will continue to provide leadership and oversight for the Department of Special Services throughout the search process.
