Message from the Principal
Evans Park Elementary School features Kindergarten through fourth grades; our mission mirrors that of the district, Every Pearl River Student Can and Will Learn. As a school, we strive to create a nurturing environment in which students are able to build upon their emerging skills and enthusiasm for learning. The Evans Park staff is committed to academic excellence as well as social and emotional competencies. Our curriculum, program and resources are based on the New York State Next Generation Learning Standards in the core subjects of English Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies and Science as well as Art, Music and Physical Education.
Technology resources are valued and infused into classroom activities as each class is equipped with a SMART Board. Third and fourth graders utilize Chromebooks, while kindergarten through second grade classes use educational applications available on iPads. Teachers have embraced collaborative Google programs to enhance multi-disciplinary platforms in the learning environment. Classroom furnishings are gradually changing as we research and embrace new concepts in classroom design. A multitude of support services are available to our students, including academic support, skills support, resource room, speech, occupational and physical therapy, English as a New Language (ENL), counseling and the support of a full time school nurse.
Parents play a critical role in the success of the Evans Park community. We are fortunate to have an involved and committed Parent Teacher Association which actively provides rich educational experiences for the students. The coordination of cultural assemblies, enrichment programs and after-school learning opportunities are only a few examples of the commitment they regularly demonstrate. The dedication, community involvement and teamwork of the PTA is truly embodied in the culmination of our Maker Space.
Evans Park has a long history of serving students in the Pearl River community. Our motto for over 300 students and their families is Together We Can. As you work with teachers this year, look for evidence of that commitment to teaching and learning. Visit the website, communicate often, ask questions and partner with us on behalf of your children.
